Your lock or original key will normally be stamped with a 3-digit 8xx code; the stamped code is what we cut, so you receive a consistent, to-spec key even when an old key is worn, bent, or badly duplicated. These are code-cut keys made to factory spacing and depth—not copies traced from an existing key—making them ideal for lost-key situations and for keeping reliable spares on board. This keyway is commonly used on marine latch and cam-lock style hardware such as cabin entry door latches, cockpit and console doors, hatch and locker latches, engine box and service access panels, storage compartments, glove boxes, and switch/electrical panel locks, and it is also encountered on some RV baggage, utility, and exterior storage doors that use the same flat keyway. Typical settings include boats kept at marinas, docks, dry stacks, and boatyards, as well as trailerable boats and RVs where a spare set is handy for family members, guests, or service work. To ensure fit, your hardware must both (1) be stamped with code 827 within the 802–848 series AND (2) use the matching MBL1R keyway—codes are not universal across different key profiles.
