- Invisible Thread Poly is a very fine polyester monofilament thread designed for quilting, appliqué, and other techniques where you want the stitching to blend into the fabric. With a smooth surface and subtle matte finish, it disappears into a wide range of colors and textures, allowing your fabric and design to remain the focus. Ideal for stitch-in-the-ditch, machine appliqué, echo quilting, and free-motion quilting, this thread offers a clean look with less visual distraction. The polyester composition provides strength and heat resistance, making it a reliable choice for both home and longarm machines, even during extended use or ironing. Slightly heavier than nylon monofilament, it offers improved abrasion resistance and is less prone to breakage when working with curves, layers, or detailed stitching. For best results, use a Topstitch #70/10 needle on home machines or a #14 (3.0) needle on longarm machines, and loosen your top tension to between 1.0 and 2.0. Pairing it with a fine bobbin thread, such as Precision, can further improve stitch balance. Invisible Thread Poly is available in 1,500 yard spools and 7,500 yard cones. It is a versatile option for quilters and sewists who want durable, nearly invisible stitches that let the fabric shine.
