- A sleek, compact 16-key mechanical keyboard, featuring hot-swappable clicky or linear switches and customizable per-key RGB lighting. Keybow 2040 boasts a 4x4 key grid, low latency input, high reliability, and a slim footprint, thanks to the new RP2040 chip from Raspberry Pi. The RP2040 microcontroller is seamlessly integrated into the PCB, making it a neat all-in-one unit. We've included our favorite Kailh Speed switches, available in clicky, linear, or tactile varieties, and smart transparent DSA keycaps that shine brilliantly with fully customizable per-key RGB lighting. Use Keybow 2040 as a streaming deck for in-stream audio adjustments and OBS scene switching, a capable MIDI controller for triggering clips, tracks, or effects in Ableton Live, or a customizable hotkey pad for programs like Photoshop. It's also great for pasting frequently-used text or code snippets. Key features include: powered by RP2040 with 2MB of flash memory, 16 low-profile keys connected directly to GPIOs, Kailh hot-swap switch sockets compatible with Cherry MX switches, per-key RGB LEDs driven by an IS31FL3731 PWM LED matrix driver, a BOOTSEL button that can also serve as a user switch, a reset button, USB-C power and programming, dimensions of approximately 76mm x 76mm x 30mm (L x W x H, including switches, keycaps, and feet), no soldering required, comes with CircuitPython pre-installed, and the PMK CircuitPython library. The clicky, linear, and tactile kits include everything needed to assemble a mini mechanical keyboard with high-quality clicky (Gold), linear (Silver), or tactile (Copper) Kailh Speed switches and clear DSA-profile key caps. Assembly is simple, with no soldering required, and hot-swap Kailh sockets that work with Cherry-MX compatible switches. A bare-bones edition is also available without keycaps and switches for those who wish to supply their own. A USB-C cable is not included, but we sell one separately. Assembly is straightforward, requiring only a small Phillips screwdriver. Keybow 2040 ships with CircuitPython and necessary libraries pre-installed, with an example to help you get started. Our friend Sandy has written a CircuitPython library for easy programming and customization, with examples for controlling LEDs and buttons, setting up as a USB input device, or even a MIDI controller/sequencer. Watch Sandy's livestream to learn more about Keybow 2040 and the library. The RP2040 microcontroller from Raspberry Pi features a dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ running up to 133MHz, 264kB of SRAM, 30 multifunction GPIO pins, standard peripherals, USB support, and programmable IOs for executing custom programs and manipulating GPIO pins.
