- PhosControl bonds with free phosphorus in the water and clarifies the water column. Simply broadcast the fine granules evenly across your pond. Visibly clearer water in as little as 1 day. Base rate 20 lbs. per acre (1 lb. per 2,500 sq. ft.). Higher rates may be needed for higher phosphate levels. Apply in spring and fall when there is little to no growth in the pond so the most free phosphorus is available to bond with. PhosControl can also be used a week after algaecide treatment to bond with the phosphorus that is released from the dead algae.
