And when you plug in, two Lipstick single-coil passive pickups bring that vintage tone.One-of-a-kind pickups When it first appeared in '56, the U2 made a big impression for its use of twin Lipstick pickups wired in series rather than in parallel. With its coil wrapped around an Alnico VI magnet and then wrapped in tape, these pickups harken back to the vintage tone of rock's earliest days. The result is a tone that truly stands alone — jangly, midrange punch
