- Homeschooling Laws in the state of Missouri require that homeschooled students ages 7-16 receive 1,000 hours of instruction per school year. This log book has space for you to record everything required by the law! Use a different page for each child or choose to log whole-family group activities on one page and add that to each child’s individual totals at the end of the year. You will need to log 600 hours in the 5 “core” subjects: math, reading, science, social studies, and language arts. Of these 600 hours in the “core” subjects, 400 of these hours must take place in your “regular homeschool location,” which is usually your family’s home (sometimes this could be another location if you do the majority of your homeschooling at another location besides your home.) As homeschoolers, you are also required to keep a written plan, which can be written on the log pages. You must have some evaluations of how the student is doing, which you can make note of on the “Totals” pages. Keep some of your child’s work samples throughout the year to show what they have learned and show progress. This log book contains over 100 logging pages, pages for totaling your hours, and a sheet of instructions. Always check your local homeschooling laws to be sure you are meeting all the requirements.
