- Hello my darling buttercup, I am your Knit Fairy, of Knit Fairy Books, and I am writing to let you know that I’ve created this notebook for you, so that you can design, chart and knit All.The.Things. Here’s how this notebook will help you, my darling First, you will learn how to read like a Knitter. I’ve put together a short list of Knitting Abbreviations and explained each one clearly. It will take you about 2 minutes to read all of it, and instantly, you will know the language all Knitters use. (This part of the notebook is called Knitting Abbreviations Master Listbecause all of the most frequently used abbreviations - a shortened form of a word or a phrase - are listed here). Next, m'lady, you will learn to write like a Knitter. As you'll find out, Knitters, unlike muggles, don't use letters. We use symbols instead. To chart our knitting patterns, that is. So, in this notebook, you'll find a list of Knit Chart Symbols. Again, it's a short read, but the most rewarding one! You see, sweetie, to read through it, you will use all that freshly aquired knowledge of the knitting abbreviations. And as your eyes glide over the knit chart symbols list, you will prove to yourself that you are indeed fully familiar with the language of us Knitters. Even if you are seeing all of this for the first time, you, my darling are now fluent in Knitters' language. (I'm so giddy for you right now, darling!) Finnaly, gorgeous one, you will chart patterns like a Kntter. For this, I've put together 40 pages of 4:5 graph paper and 30 pages of 2:3 graph paper, and together, they make the majority of this notebook. Please darling Knitter, don't be intimidated by it, if you've never used if till now. Here's a little trick, that will boost your confidence in a flash: take a simple charted knitting pattern. Any little chart will do. From a knitting magazine, or a knitting book, or even from the World Wide Web. Got it? Good. Now... copy the chart, symbol by symbol, onto the graph paper in your notebook. Excelent! You have just charted a knitting pattern, sweathart. I'm sooo proud of you! All right now, go on now and buy this notebook, buttercup. Then go through it, and use it to design, chart and knit All.The.Things. Have fun, sweetie! Yours always, Knit Fairy of the Knit Fairy Books
