- Audio setups suffer from a disturbing hiss, buzzing or humming when more than one component in the system carries a mass, resulting in ground loop feedback. The use of multiple plugs with separate ground points, usually characterized by three-pin connectors, such as the power cord of your desktop power supply or laptop charger and the power cord of your studio monitors or speakers, results in multiple groundings and creates an unwanted chain of noise, buzzing and distortion. You need a way to break through these multiple causes in the audio chain to correct your system, and that's exactly what iDefender+ will help you. It connects directly to the USB port of your computer or car, automatically detects if there is more than one grounding, and intelligently and safely disconnects the grounding to remove the background noise and achieve cleaner sound. If you are unsure about a potential grounding problem, you can try putting your hand on the music device (PC, CD player, etc.) and listen to whether the hum remains the same or disappears. If the hum is still present or gets worse, the i Defender + could be the perfect solution. If the noise disappears, it means that your system is missing a floor and needs to be added. The iDefender also works with USB-powered DACs (digital-to-analog converters) and USB hubs by adding to the IFI iPower 5V to feed clean power into the USB-C port on the side of the device. You can also use other 5V power supplies that benefit from the additional noise filtering of the iDefender+. To ensure that a wide range of devices is compatible, the iDefender+ is available in 3 port versions: USB A input to A output, USB C input to C output, USB C input to A output.
