Of course, the incomparible 'King of the Beat', Bernard Purdie displays his inimitable driving meter, as well as steering the production through it's grand conclusion. 'I'm not much for Bernard Purdie's sometimes highbrow, funky production on the faster numbers, but Gonzales' skills and taste eventually win you over, especially on the slower blues tracks like 'Young Thing' and 'One More Mile,' where his fingerwork takes over.'
