From the Back Cover: Jesus gave a challenge at the end of his discourse on the Sermon on the Mount. He offered choices to his listeners for them to accept or reject his message of discipleship. Maurice in this 6th and final volume looks at these choices that a Christian has to make between being just a follower or a disciple, of being just saved or becoming the Bride of Christ. Jesus gave his challenge by way of a series of illustrations and Maurice looks at the practical implications that these will have on a Christian. There are two gates which lead to two roads; there are two trees that we can eat from and finally, there are two foundations that a Christian can build upon. Excerpted from the Choices for a Disciple Introduction: This is the sixth book in the series on the Sermon on the Mount, and is the last. It has reminded me of how very different it is to put my thoughts into text. Some of the studies lend well to the printed word, while other subjects I have found really difficult to convey in a concise and convincing manner. I have no reaction as I am writing and even after the book is published only a few people will write and thank or criticise what I have written, and by that time I will be on to another book and hardly know what they are talking about. I do not have a choice in these matters however, for God clearly told me many years ago to use all the media available to convey the message God gave me regarding discipleship, and so I have endeavoured to be obedient. I thank God that people can read a book, or listen to a CD, or watch me preach on DVD or Christian TV. I just pray that this series in book form will help many followers of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and that they will have been encouraged and provoked to become disciples and to make a difference to their own family life, that of their local fellowship and of the society in which God has placed them. In the first part of this final book, I will continue to look at the wisdom that Jesus gave to those who have proved they want to be his disciples. He shares some secrets about prayer with a progression of ask, seek and knock. The second part of this book looks at the conclusions and challenges that Jesus gives at the end of this classic sermon the choices that we all have to make after we have heard these teachings. The choice is between two gates that lead to different roads, two trees we can feed from and two foundations upon which to establish our Christian lifestyle.
