The “NFA-EMI Story” tells about an educational institution that has been dedicated to helping the sick, injured and dying since at least 1800. It is the story of the National Emergency Training Center, its origins, facilities and activities. The beautiful campus is described, building by building, and the fascinating history of the campus when it was a Catholic college for women is related. Also included is information on the three major memorials located on the campus and background information on the programs and services of the National Emergency Training Center and their leaders. A significant amount of information is provided on the history of the site before the federal government occupation. This pioneer’s farm in rural Maryland was the home of Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton's Sisters of Charity. The Battle of Gettysburg was fought nearby. The interaction between the Catholic school, Union and Confederate troops who were camped there, is detailed.
