The "pony car," the first of the muscle cars, was named after the successful World War II fighter airplane, P-51 Mustang, first rolling off the manufacturing floor in 1964. GT4 references the track day car of the Ford Mustang from its sixth generation that has been manufactured from 2014 to present day, still sporting an interior resembling an airplane cockpit, making this drift car appear as if floating and twisting around the track like a fighter plane, just like its namesake.
