Sobre este producto
  • Blue Cajun Dwarf Crayfish are a bright blue color that will last through adulthood under the correct water parameters. They look particularly stunning against a colorful fish tank decoration!
  • They are very active and do not hide during the day like most crayfish. However, they still do best in a tank with aquatic plants or tank décor that provide cover, such as an aquarium hut.
  • Cajun Dwarf Crayfish are mostly peaceful and do well in most community fish aquariums, though they occasionally have been known to make a meal of dwarf shrimp.
  • Care for this crayfish is a breeze - the Cajun Dwarf Crayfish feeds on leftover food or almost any kind of fish food. Basic aquarium supplies needed, including an aquarium filter.
  • This listing is for one unsexed young adult crayfish. All Aquatic Arts (formerly InvertObsession) brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee and free email support!

The Blue Cajun Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus shufeldtii "Blue") is yet another striking blue color morph of North American dwarf crayfish! Dwarf crayfish are also known as mini lobsters, although true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. Cajun Dwarf Crayfish have outgoing personalities and are very similar to the Orange CPO Crayfish in appearance and behavior, aside from the obvious difference in color. When kept in a pH consistently below 6.8, this crayfish will retain its blue coloration throughout its adulthood. If the pH is higher, it may revert back to a brown or tan color after a molt, so keeping the pH at or below 6.8 is essential in order for this crayfish to maintain a nice blue coloration. Miniature freshwater crayfish like this one are among our favorite invertebrates here at Aquatic Arts and an excellent choice for the nano aquarium or desktop tank. They are larger than dwarf shrimp (they can grow up to 1.6 inches long) and tend to live much longer, but are still small enough to comfortably live in a tank as small as a 5 gallon aquarium. They are active and don’t typically hide during the day like most larger crayfish. Though this crayfish is small enough not to be a threat to most other tank inhabitants, they have on occasion gone after dwarf shrimp, so we cannot guarantee safety for dwarf shrimp when raising them in the same tank. They are safe with most freshwater snails, including Assassin Snails and Limpets. They will eat high-quality sinking pellets and freeze-dried or frozen foods. Cuttlebone can be added to the aquarium to supplement calcium and help with exoskeleton production.
