The Dishwasher Float Switch activates the drain pump to turn on and remove the excess water. Once the float sinks, or is no longer floating, it signals the drain pump to turn off. This part is designed to be used with select dishwasher brands including Whirlpool®, Maytag® and KitchenAid®; check to see if your model number is compatible. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dishwasher and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. You must also turn off the water supply underneath the sink before installation. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Dishwasher Cleaner* (item W10282479) to help reduce limescale and mineral build-up that can be unsightly and affect your dishwasher’s performance. *Affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
