This women's and men's multivitamin combines a traditional womens and mens multivitamin with methylated b vitamins, and a 5-mthf supplement. For those who are not familiar, 5-MTHF is the common abbreviation for 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate, or 5-methylfolate. As a result, it is not uncommon to see an l methyl folate labeled a 5 methylfolate supplement. Similarly, some people may be able to take a methyl folate supplement as a mthfr supplement because unlike folic acid, which is the most common form of folate in supplements and fortified foods, L-methylfolate, does not require conversion by the MTHFR enzyme to be active in the body. A significant number of people have genetic variations that reduce the ability of the MTHFR enzyme to make this conversion. For this population, L-methylfolate supplementation may be a more effective form of folate.
