In 1925, Sakura Color Products of Osaka, Japan, formulated Cray-Pas oil pastels with premium quality pigments, wax and oil. The Cray-Pas Specialist series is the highest grade of oil pastels made with the finest quality pigments that are individually performance rated for light-fastness. The square shaped stick allows for detailed application. Professional artists appreciate the superb, creamy texture that facilitates blending, and can be used in combination with a variety of painting mediums. Specialist oil pastels are extremely smooth to apply, can create broad strokes, and allow the user to blend colors to build texture and depth. The range of colors is ideal for fine art, commercial art and illustration. Impasto and subtle color wash effects are possible with the use of Specialist Extender which distributes color to create shadows, depth and continuation of hues. Cray-pas oil pastels are certified non-toxic by ACMI toxicologists and bears the trusted AP Seal.
