The Saunders Waterford Series, made by St. Cuthberts, is an exceptional quality watercolor paper, traditionally made on a cylinder mold machine. Our papermaking artisans use 100% cotton, the ideal papermaking material, to craft this incredible paper to high archival standards with magnificent surface stability. Buffered with calcium carbonate for added protection, it has a beautiful surface created using natural woolen felts that give it a distinctive random texture. The surface is sized in gelatin, which eases paint flow from brush to paper and creates a lasting durability when it comes to scrubbing, erasing and other rough treatments. Even masking fluid removal is easy with this paper. Saunders Waterford white watercolor blocks are available in three surface textures: hot press, cold press and rough. Every block is fastened securely on all four sides with a pH neutral, black adhesive that prevents warping or buckling and holds steady in rain, wind or shine.
