For many years, asbestos was used in everyday construction, but has now been recognized as a serious health hazard. The inhaling of asbestos fibers can cause a buildup of scar-like tissue in the lungs called asbestosis, which results in the loss of lung function, often leading to death. Asbestos has also been linked to causing cancer of the lung and other diseases such as mesothelioma. With our Easy-to-Use SLGi Home Test Kit, you can sample and submit suspected asbestos-containing bulk material to be tested by our laboratory. All tests are conducted using approved methods and an analytical report will be available to view online within your requested turnaround time. Expert consultation is included to help you interpret your results! Per New York state guidelines all loose fill attic or bulk vermiculite are designated and treated as asbestos containing material. No approved analytical method is allowed and results will state that the sample is considered asbestos containing. Also, New York asbestos regulations state that non-detect or trace results in Non-Friable Organically Bound (NOB) material are inconclusive since PLM is not consistently reliable in detecting asbestos. TEM is currently the only method that can be used to determine if NOB material can be treated as non-asbestos containing.
