Sobre este producto
  • The war in Vietnam torments thirteen-year-old Mark Thomas. Like the rest of the Thomas family, Mark fears for his older brother Jack, a Special Forces soldier caught up in the fighting. Mark has a tight bond with Jack who has taught Mark how to fish, how to drive stick-shift, and how to think like a soldier. Mark is a kind-hearted boy with a gift for understanding wild animals, very unlike his hot-headed younger brother, Petey, who has a talent for speed and plans to one day be a Navy pilot. The brothers, along with a cabal of friends, investigate the late night disappearance of an armored car transporting a shipment of gold and the murder of the driver and guards. The boys plot missions from their underground fort. Mark and Petey have a wrench thrown into their wild and free ways when their older sister, Ruth, returns from studying abroad in France. With the kindly yet stern Mrs. Thomas distracted by her concerns for Jack’s safety, Ruth takes it upon herself to reign in Mark and Petey. Sparks fly with the arrival of Sgt. Michael Minnetti, a combat friend of Jack’s suffering from PTSD. Against the wishes of the passionate war-protesting Ruth, the Thomas family takes in Sgt. Minnetti and the mysterious, ever-calm, eye patched Mr. Thomas provides guidance. With the boys’ investigation closing in on a murderous band of outlaws, their survival will depend on their skills and experience of growing up wild and free, as the war in Vietnam shakes the foundation of family.
