If you're providing an unregulated power supply to the board, make sure to connect to the "RAW" pin instead of "VCC". 1. When you open the Ar duino IDE software, go to Tools and select the board "Ar duino Leonardo" 2. The acceptable voltage range is 5 to 9 V.
