- To the student / teacher In every subject area there are topics that are harder to grasp than others. This Algorithm work book is designed primarily to assist the students who are having difficulties in the writing of programs at the basic to critical level. Currently in the Caribbean a review was done on the programming aspect taught in the Caribbean schools. The results revealed a decline in the number of students answering the programming questions; to be exact, an inability to write the algorithm questions at an acceptable standard. This is not only a Caribbean issue but an intercontinental problem. It is upon this premise that this Algorithm work book was developed: to give the student the necessary practice and the platform in writing algorithms in its three main forms (Narrative, Pseudocode and Flowchart), and therefore gives the students the necessary skills to write in whatever programming language desired, In the case of the Caribbean, writing in PYTHON, PASCAL, C, C++ and JAVA. This Algorithm work book works in conjunction with the facilitator of the subject area. The facilitator is provided with necessary space for him/her to give additional questions to the students and have them write these questions in the space provided. It is also designed as a primary algorithm book for each student. To the teacher This development will also assist you the teacher to have “ready questions” for class usage. The author is aware of how tiring it is to develop independent algorithm questions. This work book will make it easy for you the teacher in preparing for your classroom. The author does hope that this book will give justice to our many students who need the necessary practice, not only the fast learners but the challenged students in this subject area. Program writing is not only for the students who can achieve A’s, A+’s, but also for the students who have the capacity but just need the opportunity and the “know how”.
