Sobre este producto
  • In Mall City, the only people who worry about owning umbrellas are those that reside on the lowest level—or, at least that’s what you’ve heard. You’re not exactly sure where you’d heard it, or what it means exactly, but every time you hear about Mall City, that phrase runs through your mind. You’re thinking about it now. You’re almost there. It was quite a trip. 300 miles. The last 200 were through a desert. Luckily, your air conditioner is working and your gas mileage is reasonable. You have slightly more than a quarter tank left. No worries. A few more miles to go. You turn up the radio, but don’t recognize the song, so you turn to another station. A familiar chorus is playing. Much better. You’re singing along now. The chorus ends and you can’t remember the rest of the words. You take a sip of water. You wait for the chorus again and then start singing. It makes you feel good and reminds you of someone, but you can’t remember whom exactly. You search a few memories. It’s not there, and as the song ends, you see an abnormally large shape in the distance. It looks like a giant gray cardboard box and you understand why, besides the Great Wall of China, it’s the only other man-made object visible from space. You’re almost there. You can smell it. There’s a red, white and blue sign ahead. You can’t read it yet, but you’re almost there—a few miles to go. You’re getting excited. You speed up a little. The sign is coming into view. You can read the first letter. It’s a big ‘M’. You squint. A few more feet and it will be clearer— and now, you can see it. It reads ‘Mall City’ and underneath it there’s a picture of a stop sign and a left arrow. You see the stop sign, and as you approach it, you release the gas pedal slowly. You’re slowing down now—slower and slowwer and slowwwer and slowwwwer and thennn you stop. You look to your right and there are no cars coming. In fact, you haven’t seen a car for a while. You flick your blinker on and turn — a very slow and deliberate turn. Mall City is on your right side. You’re looking at it. They say it’s 2 miles long, 2 miles wide, and 20 stories high. You see another sign and it reads, ‘Mall Entrance 1 Mile’. The speed limit is 20 miles per hour. You look ahead and then at the Mall—you can’t keep your eyes off it. It’s like a giant monster that appears to be friendly and you would like to get to know it better but aren’t entirely sure if its appearance is genuine or a façade. You proceed. You’re excitement is increasing. You see a stoplight. It’s red so you start slowing down again. Slower and slowwer and thennn you stop. You think it’s strange that there’s a stoplight here considering you haven’t seen a car in over an hour. You’re getting impatient. You politely tell the stoplight to hurry up. It seems to listen and a green arrow points toward the Mall. You proceed. A travel brochure you read yesterday reported that its parking lot is the largest in the world. You don’t doubt it. There are two lanes at the parking lot's entrance to choose from and you take the one on the left. There is a metal box near the curb to your left and just beyond that an electronic arm is lowered. You approach the box carefully as the city looms behind it—a few more feet to go. You are next to it now and slowing down and then you stop. “Please take your ticket.” An automated voice tells you. You grab it with your left hand and the mechanical arm starts to rise. “Thank you. Please proceed.” It seems to listen and a green arrow points toward the Mall. You proceed.
