Formed in 1970 by legendary original Deep Purple bassist Nick Simper out of the then Marsha Hunt's backing group (Marsha's decision to put a hold on gigs, so she could have Mick Jagger's baby, galvanized Simper into making Warhorse a full time going concern!) The band's management secured a deal with the then new Vertigo Records, and their eponymously-named first album was released to great critical acclaim in 1970. Red Sea followed in 1972 and the band continually toured in the UK and Europe, building a large following in Germany and Holland. However, various reasons caused the band to split in 1974, with the members going their separate ways: Simper to Fandango, and vocalist Ashley Holt to Rick Wakeman. Over the years the band had always stayed in touch, so when one last gig was suggested, all the original members were in agreement. The result is this excellent live show, recorded by a former BBC soundman at Woods Club in 2001 and featuring the original members. Digitally remastered, slipcased and with new notes
