- Description: The DRV8871 is a robust brushed-DC motor driver, suitable for a variety of applications including printers, appliances, industrial equipment, and small machines. It features two logic inputs that govern the Hbridge driver, which is equipped with four N-channel MOSFETs for bidirectional motor control up to a peak current of 3.6-A. Motor speed can be modulated using pulse width modulation (PWM) with various current-decay modes, and a low-power sleep mode is activated when both inputs are set to low. This device incorporates advanced current regulation circuitry that eliminates the need for an analog voltage reference or external sense resistor. It utilizes a standard, low-cost, low-power resistor to establish the current threshold, thereby reducing system power requirements and bulk capacitance for stable voltage, particularly during motor startup and stall conditions. The DRV8871 is equipped with comprehensive protection features against faults and short circuits, including undervoltage (UVLO), overcurrent (OCP), and overtemperature (TSD). Upon resolution of the fault, the device seamlessly returns to normal operation.
