  • Introduction The RaspRover, a 4WD AI robot, is an all-around, powerful, open-source product for creators. Adopting dual-controller structure design. The sub-controller of the ESP32 main controller is responsible for motor PID control, IMU sensor control, OLED screen control, servo control, LED on/off, etc. sharing the computational load while saving IO resources and providing an efficient communication interface to the host computer, which uses a Pi 4B or Pi 5, ensures that advanced features such as higher-level arithmetic and specified policies are realized. The robot body adopts a 2mm thickness all-aluminum metal case, with a rigid structure and better durability. Adopting soft anti-skid rubber tires, it also works with 4x N20 gear motors with encoders, which can realize closed-loop speed control, effectively stopping vibration for excellent moving performance with a maximum speed of 0.65m/s. There are two options: Pi 4B with a CSI camera or Pi with a USB camera. Providing real-time pictures through the high-frame-rate and low-delay camera, users can enjoy a smooth visual experience and also can capture the moment by taking photos and recording. In addition, the robot's information feedback —— including voltage, CPU, and so on, can be displayed through the WEB application in real-time, so users can monitor the robot's status anytime. As for the vision system of this robot, it is equipped with a 2-DOF high-torque flexible pan-tilt and a 5MP 160° FOV camera, offering ultra-wide viewing angle and flexible observing angle, and various AI robot vision functions. The high-brightness LED close to the pan-tile ensures it can work in a low-light environment.
