Project 1: Write a Star Trek Original Series Bridge Computer Simulation panel. A completely pointless program. Step-by-step instructions. If you like random blinky-things, this is the program for you. Learn about arrays and random-numbers. Amazingly, the entire program is only a few paragraphs of code. See it in action here: https://youtu.be/zRtoqZEPVLk Project 2: Take a photograph and split it into colors Red, Green, and Blue, displaying each channel separately. Then, write a gray-scale version of the photograph. The intent is to show the power of Visual Studio. This complicated-sounding program is actually short and easy to write. (See look-Inside) Project 3: A Luhn CheckDigit Credit Card Authenticator - an interesting program that examines a credit-card number and validates the data-entry, looking for transposed or mis-typed digits. This does not validate the card with the credit-card company but does confirm the number is "reasonable." The "math" is interesting. Project 4: DirectoryPulse This program scans all subdirectories on a hard disk and reports back the number of directories, their file-counts, and file-sizes. Yes, File-Explorer can do this, but not with the same grace and speed as this program. DirectoryPulse gives a high-level overview of the disk structure in a way that Explorer does not. Use this to pinpoint your data-pigs. The real purpose of this program is to teach how to open and parse an ASCII text file, and how to manipulate arrays. This is a busy but rewarding program. This program morphed into a backup utility that can backup data-files for offline storage. Use this number to tell if your downloaded copy is the same as they had intended. This same utility can look at two files, which might have different date-time-stamps, and even if renamed, you can tell if the files are same. In the background, it keeps an inventory of various settings. All computers in the network can write this inventory to a cental file share.
